Kaeley Pruitt-Hamm wrote “Believe Her” as part of her EP "Hi From Pillows," (yet to be released in full on June 2nd 2017) which she wrote and recorded mostly from bed after developing Myalgic Encephalomyelitis (M.E.) from untreated Lyme Disease due to doctors' failure to believe her pain until an infection had spread throughout her body. Kaeley knew she was not the only one who had gone through something like this, and she wished to connect with others who were also bedridden, through song. This song is dedicated to survivors of being not believed - by doctors, members of Congress, or bystanders in a sexual assault case.

Teaming up with chronic illness advocacy organization MEAction, she asked for ME patients and allies around the world to send in photos of themselves from bed. For artists who wished to share more than a sign, MEAction sponsored #BedFest, a virtual worldwide arts festival of artists performing from bed, raising awareness of the devastating effects of ME and the need for more research around it. lyrics

Woman you come to me
Hoping for answers
Crying for help
From something that’s like cancer
But I look inside you
I search for invaders
Probably your own heart
Is the real traitor
You say that you feel touched
Affected all over
But all that i see
Is a scratch on your shoulder
You swear that he crossed you
Your boundaries are broken
Why not say no then
To games of red rover
Based on the actions
From what I can see
You're overreacting
The world's looking perfect to me
He was a good man
From a good family
That he would do bad things
Is so hard to believe
Believe
Look round the corner
There's nobody coming
Now open your mouth wide
And take this for numbing
Listen to silence
There's nobody screaming
If your ears are pounding
Girl you must be dreaming
He said “All that I'm seeing
Is just not that bad
You should be thankful
For all that you have
You are a good girl
With a good family
You're overreacting
And you're hard to believe
Believe
Hard to believe
When I don't see”
You never give up
Well turns out it happened
You took down a man on his throne
With your passion
For truth and redemption
How can we repay you?
Just keep an eye on kings
So they don’t play you
And believe me
